The Department of Arts (Psychology, English, & Journalism) is as focused on overall development of students as it is on increasing their skill sets. Here is how we go out of our way to do so:
We regularly conduct seminars on critical issues such as social psychology, organizational behaviour etc. with the aid of industry experts.
Students are given a variety of mini-projects as well as one major project during the final year. These projects take into account the lesson plan as well as latest research.
We include subjects that focus on achieving perfection in the English language. We help students appreciate classic literature through lessons in poetry, drama, essays, and novels, of great authors.
A blend of classic curriculum and modern teaching aids are part of what makes this department so successful.

Department organizes a talk on Human Rights helmed by Rev Fr John Soosai Manickam SJ, a committed advocate of Human Rights
1. Our Student Shazia Moosa represents India at I Asian Gymnastics Championship at Bangkok, Thailand
2. Shazia Moosa and G. Rama Devi represent Osmania University at Inter-University Tournament in Gymnastics held at Patiala, Punjab. Shazia Moosa wins the Bronze medal
1. Yojana, a student, performs at a dance program organized by Sparkle Dance Academy and receives the 1st prize for choreography
2. Seminar on “College Students Problems - Need For Counselling” is conducted for staff of Loyola. This seminar was presided over by Dr.G Padmaja, Psychologist, Center for Health Psychology, University of Hyderabad
1. Department of Arts conducts an out-reach program titled “Reach the Roots & Save the Future” to create awareness among adolescents on “AIDS - Causes and Preventive Measures” on World’s AIDS Day
2. Bal Reddy, Shatrudhan Choudhary, Sagar Dilip, and Swarna Rakesh, III-year students, produce and act in a short-film, “Death Defeat”. It was screened at the Grand Kinos Film Fest, Vijayawada
3. Sahana Prasad, a final-year student, participates in the first Parliament of Indian Student Council, organized by MAEER’S MIT school of Government, Pune
1. Our students conduct a survey on “Malnutrition Among Children” in Shamshabad slums
2. Department conducts a Symposium on “Aristotle Tragedy”
3. Rama Mishra, a I-year student, represents A.P. State in the National Korfball Championship held at Rohtak, Haryana, and wins the Gold
The Department of Psychology, English & Journalism organized a workshop for the final year students on “Statistics made Easy” by Mr. Amit Indurkar, Faculty of Osmania University on 5 August, 2015
The Human Library, Hyderabad, were called for a day long session on the 16th of December, 2017, which was attended by all the students and staff of the department, giving them deep insights into various human stories that gave social taboos a broadminded perspective to look at
1. Students of all the three years and the lecturers of the department attended the Hyderabad Literary Fest on 27th January, 2018 which enriched the students and staff on several aspects of art and culture that were showcased in the fest.
2. Students of the third year attended a Guest Lecture on Special Education by Ms. Reshma John which helped them understand the educational needs of differently abled children on February 6th, 2018
