Who we are and what we do

Beginning in the academic year of 2006-07, the Department of M.Sc. Biotechnology has been a fore-runner in the state in its field. It quickly became one of the more popular departments, in the Academy, because of the opportunities it provided to both its students and its faculty.

Our main focus is placed on research and innovation practices in teaching in accordance with the latest trends in the field of Biotechnology. Our faculty ensures a strong foundation of concepts and a create a knowledge base to students and guide them through a variety of learning experiences. Our labs are our strength. 01 Research Giants

Tie-ins with industry giants such as CCMB, CDFD, Lacones, Hyderabad Central University, A.P Forensic Sciences, Dr. Reddy’s Research Laboratory, Shantha Biotechniques, Bharath Biotech, Indian Immunological, Reliance Life Sciences, ICRISAT, IIMR, CRIDA, Prathista Biotech Pvt. Ltd., etc. to allow our students to do projects in these institutions in their final semester.

02 State-Of-The-Art Infrastructure

Our world-class infrastructure is sophisticated advanced and of high quality to conduct research in-house. Apart from a plethora of laboratories, we also have an entire ecosystem of flora for our students to utilize.

03 General Electives

An elective titled “Basics of Biotechnology” and "Advances in Biotechnology" allows students other MSc streams to gain an exposure in the area of bio-technology while bolstering their credits.

With our constantly updated syllabus and our highly interactive course, students are constantly distinctly placed in Pharma Biotech and various R&D Labs of Biotechnology. A lot of our alumni are big names in the field of research and academia in India as well as abroad.

  • 2003

    M.Sc. Biotechnology is established in Loyola Academy

  • 2007

    Department of M.Sc Biotechnology conducted a one day seminar titled “Clinical Biotechnology”

  • 2008

    Department of M.Sc Biotechnology conducted three day National Workshop on Advanced Molecular Biology Techniques

    Department of M.Sc Biotechnology Organized a Two-day Workshop Biotechniques-2008, for the Staff & Students of other Colleges on 7-8th August, 2008.

    Department of M.Sc Biotechnology Organized a Three day National Workshop Advanced Molecular Techniques for staff of other colleges on 19-21 November 2008.

  • 2009

    1. Department of M.Sc Biotechnology conducted a two-day national seminar on “Recent trends in Biotechnology” under Rev. Fr. Joji Reddy and HoDs. Guests invited include Dr C H Mohan Rao, Director CCMB, and Dr. B. Sesikeran, Director NIN.

    2. The PG wing of the Bio-Technology Department organised a state-level seminar Lab-X 2009.

    3. The Department of M.Sc Biotechnology organized one day Campaign rally against SWINE FLU Virus (H1N1) on 2nd September 2009 in Ramaraju Nagar, Suchitra center, Bank colony & NCL Enclave.

    1. Department of M.Sc Biotechnology organised one-day seminar titled “MedTech Synergy” to signify the union of the field of medicine and the emerging field of biotechnology

    2. Mr. Kanan, student, wins the Gold in High Jump event at Osmania University Inter-Collegiate athletic meet

    3. The PG wing of the Bio-Technology Department organised a State level seminar Lab-X 2010.

  • 2011

    Department of M.Sc Biotechnology organized an exposure visit to CHAI (Catholic Health Association of India) Sneha Kiran at Kondlakoya, Medchal, to counsel HIV-infected persons.

    1. Department of M.Sc Biotechnology collaborates with 3 other departments to organize a UGC-sponsored national seminar on “Trends in Agri-Biotechnology and Environmental Protection”.

    2. The PG wing of the Biotechnology Department organises a state-level seminar, Genemics 2012

    Department of M.Sc Biotechnology Conducted a State level seminar on "Green-Biotechnology" 2013

  • 2015

    The Department of M.Sc Biotechnology organized a workshop on “Insilico Studies on Molecular Modeling and Comparative Docking” by Dr. Ch. Rajasekharon 25 January, 2015

  • 2016

    1. The Department of M.Sc Biotechnology organized an International Conference on "Emerging trends in Synthesis of Nano Particles in Agri Biotechnology - Research and Commercialization" on 25 - 27 February, 2016.

    2. The Department of M.Sc. Biotechnology Loyola Academy degree & P.G College, Alwal. Organized a two day Workshop on “BioIgnite-2016” on 8th & 9th December, 2016.

    3. All the first year students participated in “Pulse polio Immunization Programme” as a part of Planet Program, held in January 2016.

    4. A Student job orientation programme- by Dr. Ram Gopal, Biocon, Hyderabad on 17th November, 2016.

  • 2017

    1. Department of M.Sc. Biotechnology has conducted a Rally on Health Hygeine and Vaccination Conducted For Importance Of Cleanliness, Immunization And Vaccination on 1ST SEPTEMBER 2017.

    2. Department of M.Sc. Biotechnology has conducted a GO GREEN ECO FRIENDLY environmental program from august 2017 to February 2018.

    3. All the first year students participated in “Pulse polio Immunization Programme” as a part of Planet Program, held in January 2016.
