Indian Heritage & Culture

Five thousand years of memory, meaning and belonging

Introduction

India is one of the oldest cultural blocks in the world, carrying five thousand years of rich heritage.

A multitude of ethnic groups, languages, and philosophies originated here or found home within its borders over thousands of years. Today, India represents a rich, multicultural tapestry built on a broad foundation of traditional values.

The Department of Indian Heritage and Culture (IHC) equips students to navigate modern society by providing a deep understanding of Indian civilization. Incorporating heritage into higher education fosters character, critical awareness, and holistic personal and professional development.
