1.Quality Intiatives / Innovative Practices of the department

REMEDIAL CLASSES- Classes are conducted for slow learners to understand the concepts briefly and upto the point so that they can present well in the exams. Remedial classes will be conducted during 6th hour every week to facilitate students to understand  the Subject.

  1. Guest lecture on Career Skills

The Department of B.Sc. Computer Science and Information Technology organized a Guest Lecture on Career Skills on 6th January,2026 for the academic year 2025–26 in collaboration with Tetrahed India Private Limited, Hyderabad. The session was delivered by Mr. P. Sitaram, Director – Operations and HR, who shared valuable insights from his extensive experience in the IT industry.

The lecture focused on bridging the gap between academic learning and industry expectations, highlighting essential employability skills, career opportunities, and real-world IT practices. Students gained a better understanding of current industry trends, recruitment processes, and the importance of skill development.

Overall, the session was highly informative and motivated students to prepare themselves for successful careers in the evolving technology landscape

 

  1. Seminar on “Gen AI and Prompt Engineering”

The Department of B.Sc. Computer Science and Information Technology, Loyola Academy Degree and PG College, organized a seminar on “Gen AI and Prompt Engineering” on 10th January 2026 at Loyola Hall, as part of Intellexa–2026. The session was conducted by Ms. Dhuha Rashid, Data Science and AI Trainer from Datamites Global Training Institute.

The seminar aimed to provide students with a strong understanding of Generative AI and its real-world applications. The resource person explained key concepts of Artificial Intelligence, Large Language Models (LLMs), and the importance of prompt engineering in generating accurate and meaningful outputs. Students were also introduced to comparisons between popular AI tools and the significance of ethical AI practices, including bias awareness and data privacy.

The session emphasized industry relevance by highlighting how AI skills are becoming essential for modern career paths. Through practical insights and examples, students learned how to effectively use AI tools for problem-solving, creativity, and productivity.

An interactive Q&A session allowed students to clarify concepts and engage directly with the expert, making the seminar more dynamic and insightful. Participants gained confidence in applying AI techniques and developed a better understanding of industry expectations.

Overall, the seminar was highly informative and successful, equipping students with valuable knowledge and skills in emerging AI technologies while encouraging them to explore future opportunities in this rapidly evolving field.

 

  1. 2 DAYS HANDS-ON WORKSHOP ON DATA ANALYTICS AND VISUALISATION

The Department of B.Sc. Computer Science and Information Technology, Loyola Academy, organized a two-day hands-on workshop on “Data Analytics and Visualization using Microsoft Power BI” from 8th to 9th January 2026 under Intellexa–2026. The sessions were conducted by experts from the Pantech team, providing students with valuable industry exposure.

The workshop focused on introducing Business Intelligence concepts and practical training in Power BI, including data import, transformation, modeling, and dashboard creation. Through interactive sessions and real-time datasets, students developed analytical thinking and hands-on skills in data visualization.

Overall, the workshop was highly effective in enhancing students’ technical competencies and preparing them for career opportunities in data analytics and business intelligence.

  1. The department secured 2nd and 3rd prizes at the national-level hackathon, MIND SPRINT 2K25, organized by PSCMR College of Engineering and Technology, Vijayawada.

  1. J. Ramachandra, has been honoured with the prestigious NPTEL Star Award in recognition of excellence in online education.

 

Staff actively participates in Conferences, Seminars at State, National and International level so that they can contribute to the research in domains such as: Security, Networking and Computer Science. The articles are published in reputed journals such as UGC Care or Scopus Indexed Journals.

Industry Visits: (final year)

An industrial visit to T-Hub, Hyderabad was organized on 10th July 2025 for the III-Year B.Sc. Computer Science and Information Technology students. A total of 43 students, accompanied by faculty coordinators, visited India’s premier startup incubator to gain exposure to the innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem.

During the visit, students attended an orientation session on startup incubation, innovation frameworks, and business development processes. The team guided students through co-working spaces, incubation centers, and innovation labs, explaining how startups are mentored, funded, and scaled. An interactive session was conducted highlighting entrepreneurship, leadership, adaptability, and real-world problem solving.

Students also visited T-Works, India’s largest prototyping center, where they observed 3D printing, CNC machining, PCB fabrication, and product design facilities. The visit provided valuable insights into product development, startup culture, interdisciplinary collaboration, and emerging opportunities in technology-driven entrepreneurship.

 

(2nd year): Ncsit

As part of our academic curriculum, students from B.Sc. Computer Science and Information Technology (NCSIT), Loyola Academy Degree and PG College visited T–HUB, Hyderabad on 9th October 2025. T–HUB is one of India’s leading startup incubators that supports entrepreneurs by providing mentorship, resources, and guidance to transform innovative ideas into successful startups. The purpose of the visit was to understand the startup ecosystem and gain practical knowledge about entrepreneurship.

During the visit, we attended a three-hour expert session where speakers explained how to develop and present a startup idea to investors or higher authorities. They highlighted the importance of identifying real problems, conducting market research, creating prototypes, and communicating ideas clearly. The session also discussed the challenges entrepreneurs face, including failures and financial difficulties, and emphasized the need for resilience, consistency, and continuous learning.

The experts also explained the qualities that make a business idea successful, such as innovation, feasibility, strong research, and a clear problem-solving approach. They warned students about common mistakes like starting without research, copying ideas, poor time management, and expecting quick success. Overall, the visit was an inspiring experience that helped us understand entrepreneurship and encouraged us to think creatively about solving real-world problems.

 An industrial trip to BSNL, RTTC was organized by Dept of B.Sc. Computer Systems and Engineering on 2nd August 2019. Students visited various labs such as CDOT, SDH, Optical Fibre and DW Systems lab. In CDOT Lab, the staff of BSNL explained IPv4, and IPV6 address used and about LAN, description on landline working, analog and digital frequency. Students witnessed practically the EXCHSIDE, LINESIDE machines and their working.

 

6.Extension Activities

The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology organized a visit to an Old Age Home in Secunderabad on 24th February 2026 as part of its social outreach initiative. The visit aimed to spend meaningful time with the residents, understand their daily lives, and extend support through small contributions and interaction. Students observed the care, facilities, and services provided, while also engaging in activities that promoted emotional well-being and social bonding.

Overall, the visit was a heartwarming and insightful experience that helped students develop empathy, social responsibility, and a deeper understanding of community service.

 

 

 

LAB TO SCHOOL

  • Students of II year of 2018-21 batch were split into batches comprising of 4 students per batch. They visited Mother Teresa High School, Chintal and Shanker Vidyalaya High School, Malkajgiri. They visited schools during afternoon session were the permission was accorded by the Principal of the school. The students of 8th and 10th standard witnessed the programme. They were made to assemble in their class and the teachers introduced our students. During the visit, students explained various hardware components of system, how to trouble shoot a system in case of problems and running multiple operating systems using virtual box. They explained how to install anti-virus software and protect confidential documents by using password mechanisms. They explained various doubts raised by students.

The Department of CSIT actively participated in the national-level hackathon Mindsprint 2K25, organized by Loyola Academy in collaboration with Brainovision.

Five students from the department secured 3rd place in the Vibe Coding Hackathon, organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in collaboration with ANITS.

Mr. Gaddam Bharath (DCSIT), representing Loyola Academy, won First Place in the 4×100 m Relay (Athletics) at the Osmania University Inter College Sports & Games 2025–2026, held on 5th–6th February 2025 at Osmania University.

Mr. Shaik Aseef Bhasha (111716016034) of  2016-19 batch won III prize in Elocution during National Library Week organized by Department of Library and Information Science, Loyola Academy held in the month of December 2018.
