Introduction

The Department of MCA was set up at Loyola Academy in 1993. In the course Master of Computer Application “We achieve our high rate of success by providing high-quality education, and not by burdening our students with meaningless coursework.”

Admissions for the MCA course happens through an ICET counseling (70% quota) & common Loyola admissions route (30% Management Quota).

Genesis

  • The First P.G. Course started in the year 1993-94.
  • Granted Autonomy in the year 2010-2011.
  • From its very inception, the department has grown to emerge as one of the foremost centers for computer education in the state.

Our orientation programs allow students to explore career possibilities and approach the one they are truly passionate about.

4.Industry Visits
  • The department of MCA organized an industrial visit for one-day  to BSNL Regional Telecom Training Centre, Gachibowli, Hyderabad. The visit was organised on 28th February 2018 for the class of MCA 1st (AMCA) and 2ndyear (NMCA).
  • The One-day visit was organized with prior permission from BSNL Regional Telecom Training Centre, Gachibowli, Hyderabad. The sessions conducted were very educational and gave the students the exposure as to how the industry and the outside market works. The students were exposed to the technical terms and the knowledge of how network  plays a  key role in industry sector, how a call setup is made using landline and mobile phones and functionality of optical fiber.
  • The department of MCA has taken the final year students and second year students, to Bangalore, Mysore and Ooty as part of industrial visit from 10th October 2018 to 15 October 2018. 
  • Objective: Industrial Visit to develop new skills and motivate  the students.
  • Purpose: As the part of their curriculum,  Loyola Academy Degree & PG College, Telangana organized a 4 day Industrial Visit to Pune, Mahabaleshwar and Lovonala From 24-09-2019 to 29-09-19

    Day I:  A Visit to Pune

    Day II:  A Visit to Mahabaleshwar 

    Day III and Day IV:  A Visit to Lonavla.

5.Extension Activities
  • The 1st year MCA students visited CHAI(Christian Health Association of India), which is well known for its selfless service for the people who are affected by the unleashed disease AIDS for PLANET PROGRAM on 17th July 2015.

  • As part of PLANET program 2nd year MCA students have participated in PULSE POLIO IMMUNIZATION program in Old Alwal on 29th January 2017.

  • As part of PLANET program students of 1st year MCA have participated in World TB Day program at Old Alwal on 24th March 2017.

  • The MCA department has been a part of The Telangana State Prison Department’s initiative to end the menace of beggars in Hyderabad on 20th July 2019 at Cherlapally and Chenchalguda jail  on 17th March 2018.
  • Visited The Telangana State Prison Department’s initiative to end the menace of beggars in Hyderabad on 20th July 2019.
  • Visited The Home for the Disabled’s aim is to serve the people who are mentally and physically challenged in Hyderabad on 4th Dec 2021.
  • On 11 November 2022, the second year students of MCA, Loyola Academy, visited Bandamadharam village (Ranga Reddy district) for  village Development Program. 
6.Extra Curricular Activities
  • M. Vivek (3rd yr. MCA) won 4th place in Osmania University in “Inter college Chess Competition” with Loyola team.
  • Naveen,  Suraj and Srinath (2nd Yr. MCA) won 1st prize in Cricket Competition. 
  • Maragoni Naresh of MCA- 3rd year, participated Inter College Chess Competition which held on 21-09-2015 to 23-09-2015 at CBIT, Hyderabad and he also participated in the Intra College Chess Competition which was held within the Loyola Academy Degree & PG College premises and won the 2nd Prize. He also played a Cricket Tournament for Telangana State(TCA) which was held on 28-10-2015 to 31-10-2015 at LB Stadium.
  • Sarah Christine, Ravindra Reddy MCA- 3rd year and Emmanuel Leon 2nd year MCA attended a Youth Convention on 30-10-2015 to 2-10-2015 and the event was named as MAGIS which was organized by Jesuits Community and was held at St. Joseph’s College, Bangalore for 4 days. Sarah Christine, Ravindra Reddy ,Emmanuel Leon took part in all the activities conducted in 4 days. Sarah Christine participated in face painting
  • Mr. Rajnish UID NO. 111703916147 has won in FootBall Matches of Sakshi. Tournament, Telangana FootBall Association (Division B), LSH Tounament, Football Peace stars Tounament  organized in 2017-18.
  • Mr.Shaik Ameed(1117-039-17-151) has secured 2nd position  in Basket Ball held by All India Championship representing Telangana State from 13th to 15th Nov 2017 at New Delhi.
  • Mr.Krishnanendu Mohan Thakur has received  an award for Poetry conducted by Desil Boyana Award for Literary Contribution.
  • Mr.Krishnanendu Mohan Thakur  received  an award for  Poetry from Chetra Samiti, for Literary Contribution,Govt. Of India.
  • This awards is given for the young authors on his book. Gunjan Shree aka K M Thakur is awarded for his book ‘Tarhatthi par samay’ , which is the collection of his maithili poems. He received this award at Sahitya Academy, New Delhi (Govt. of India) in Maithili Literature Festival-19.
  • G. Sai Kumar has won in basketball in OLYMPUS 23, the inter collegiate sports meet organized by MANAGE Hyd, from 10th to 12th Mar 2023.

Achievements of the Department
  • The Department of MCA organized a one day state level Faculty Development Program on “Research Process, Publications, Evaluation and Challenges in Research” on 21st Oct, 2017. Dr. Salman Abdul Moiz, Associate Professor, School of Computers and Information Science, University of Hyderabad was the Chief Speaker.
  • The department has organized many Guest Lectures like “PC Hardware and Maintenance” , “Interview Skills”, “NP-Hard and NP-Complete”, “Class Templates and Function Templates”, “OOSD Case Study”, “Latest Trends in Networking and Security Technologies” by eminent speakers from Industry and Academicians from various colleges.
  • The Department has organized its annual Technical Event “Technotsav 2017” A journey from dreams to wonders on 21st Feb 2017 for the students of Information Technology in and around the twin city. The theme was Internet of things, Mrs. Bhavani Anireddy Scientist-E , DLRL, DRDO was the Speaker. 
  • The students of MCA participated in IT Fest TechNoid organized by computer science & Engineering Department of Loyola Degree College, Old Alwal. The Students Gopinath Vamshi, being honoured as First Rank Holder and K. Rakesh Reddy has won First prize in Quiz.
  • The Department of M.C.A. organized a guest lecture on “Start-ups and Entrepreneurship” on 10 July, 2015. Mr. Anil Atyam from Cloud Integrator Inc. Washington DC was the guest speaker.
  • The Department of MCA organized a one day Technical Event “TechXplosion-2K15” think big explore big on 11 December, 2015.
  • The Department of MCA  had organized a guest lecture on ‘Np-Hard and Np- complete’  for the students of 2nd year MCA  on 28 November 2019. The Speaker for the lecture was Mr. Abdul Bari sir.
  • One day the guest lecture on “Best practices of Agile methodologies” was conducted on i.e 13th and 14th March 2020 organized by Department of computer science.
  • Department of MCA conducted Moodle in Collaboration with IQAC, Loyola Academy. The Two-day faculty development programme on MOODLE was conducted by Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on 14th and 15th of February 2020.
  • A Two Days Virtual Quiz was conducted on the subjects, “C, C++ & Java”, by the title “NATIONAL E-TECH ONLINE QUIZ” on the dates 23-12-2021 and 24-12-2021. The Quiz is designed and organized for the students pursuing in the field of Computer Science.
  • The department of M.C.A has organized Alumni Meet for MCA Ex- Students on 28th May 2022, from 3:00 P.M to 4:00 P.M in online mode (Google Meet).
  • The Department of MCA had organized a guest lecture on NP-Hard and NP-Complete for the students of AMCA on 1st September 2022. The Speaker for the lecture was Dr. G. Anitha Mary.The guest lecture was scheduled at 10:25am and ended at 12:15pm.
  • The Department of MCA had organized a guest lecture on “Angular”  for the students of NMCA on 7 th  Jan 2023 by Miss. Pascolena. The guest lecture was scheduled at 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.
