BA Mass Communication

Introduction
  • We established Department of B.A. Mass Communication with the motto “Educate, Empower, and Enlighten”  in Loyola Academy in the year 2004-05 to meet the challenges and demands of the booming media industry.

Vision & Mission

Vision:

To impart theoretical and practical knowledge on various subjects and groom the students to be adept and capable of executing field work with passion, commitment, discipline and integrity making them ready to make a mark in the media industry.

Mission:

Make the students to be global representatives and hold up on objectivity and fairness in their field of work.

Highlights
  • The BA Mass Communication Programme’s highlights lies in its innovative teaching practices that include practical  exposures such as-
Production of audio-visual news stories, documentaries, short films, advertisements and public service messages, among many others, which are part of a continuous learning and evaluation process.

Students are taken on field trips to media, corporate and non-governmental organizations to give them an idea about the latest developments in the field. Students are also taken to rural areas to sensitize them to the issues and concerns of disadvantaged people.

    Social Projects :

Students are encouraged to take up projects based on social causes such as women entrepreneurs, girl-child education, role of NGOs, etc.

    Leadership & Presentation :

Guest lectures, seminars and group discussions are conducted regularly to train our students to be firm in their opinions and yet be able to put them across artfully.

Mid-Course and Final Semester Internships :

Students get to work on original projects with some of the best companies. This helps them gain experience and also pads their resumes amply before they even create their first.

Young minds can be made greater by association with great minds. We ensure that our students get to interact regularly with people of great academic and professional stature in the industry.

Best Practices
  • Students are trained to broadcast the College Radio channel.
  • Students are taught how to handle the digital media pages.
  • Apart from all the practices which they’re gaining through the theoretical and practical learning, the best ever practices which has been followed over a decade, which enlightens the students is, there are two mandatory internships which the students have to take up during their course of graduation.
  • Students are taken for industrial visits so that they can get very well exposed to the complete production of a media channel or as to how any media organization works.
