B.SC - COMPUTER SCIENCE & CLOUD COMPUTING

Introduction

The B.Sc. Computer Science and Cloud Computing program at Loyola Academy was established in the academic year 2022-23. The department aims to equip students with strong foundational knowledge in computer science along with specialized skills in cloud technologies, enabling them to meet the growing demands of the IT industry. The program focuses on modern computing practices that support scalable, secure, and efficient digital solutions.

The curriculum is designed to balance both theoretical understanding and practical exposure. Students are introduced to subjects such as Programming in Python, Data Structures, Database Management Systems, Cloud Computing, Operating Systems, Software Engineering, Web Technologies, DevOps, and emerging areas like Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics. These courses help students develop problem-solving skills and gain expertise in building and managing applications in cloud environments.

The department takes pride in its first batch of graduates (2024-25), who have achieved

significant milestones. Nine students have successfully launched their own startups with government funding, demonstrating innovation and entrepreneurial spirit. Many students have secured placements in leading multinational companies such as TCS and Cognizant, while one student has pursued higher education abroad, reflecting the global scope of the program.

In addition to technical learning, the program includes Environmental Studies and Value Education to promote awareness of sustainability, ethics, and social responsibility. These courses help in shaping responsible professionals and socially conscious individuals.

The department emphasizes experiential learning through projects, internships, workshops, and industry interactions. Students gain hands-on experience in deploying applications, managing cloud infrastructure, and working with real-time data using modern tools and platforms

Cloud Computing is a key highlight of the program, as it has become the backbone of today’s digital world. Organizations across all sectors rely on cloud platforms for storage, computing power, and application deployment.

By choosing this program, students gain in-demand skills that open up diverse career opportunities such as Cloud Engineer,

Vision & Mission

Vision :

Cloud computing is “a form of computing in which networks, data storage, applications, security and development tools are all enabled via  Internet”, as opposed to a local computer or an on-premise server in your Organization.

The long term vision of  Cloud Computing is ‘IT services are traded as utilities in an open market without technological and legal barriers’.
