It is an elective course chosen generally from an unrelated discipline/subject, with an intention to seek exposure to other discipline/subject. A student chooses and gets enrolled that is offered by another department. The student is not allowed to opt for a course offered by its own department. It is a 2 credit theory and 1 credit practical course.
Example: A chemical Technology student cannot opt for solar processing techniques offered by Chemical Technology department. The student can opt for course other than the parent department. The enrollment is based on first cum first serve. There is no change in the course once allotted to the student. There is a ceiling strength for all the courses. Theory classes are conducted during first hour on day III and day order IV, the practical classes for the same are conducted during 4th and 5th hours on day order V.
An orientation programme is conducted for III semester students at the beginning of the academic year so that students can opt one of the generic elective courses offered by other department. Students have to register for the same through ERP portal which is purely on first cum first serve basis. Students have to clear this course mandatorily as the credits for this course will be reflected in their semester end memo.
